About PadelBuddy

PadelBuddy started with a simple observation.

Padel is one of the most social sports out there.
But finding the right people to play with isn't always that simple.

Sometimes you join a game and everything just clicks.
Good rallies. Good energy. A match where everyone leaves the court smiling.

And sometimes… it doesn’t.

Not because anyone is bad.
Not because the level is wrong.

Just because the vibe isn't quite there.

So we thought about a solution to fix that.
To make every game worth your time.

At some point it became pretty clear: there had to be a better way.
And that’s where the idea for PadelBuddy started.

Our Goal

PadelBuddy was built to make it easier to find the players you actually enjoy sharing a court with.

People with a similar level.
A similar mindset.
And a similar idea of what makes a great match.

The app is still at the very beginning.

Right now we’re building the first community of players who want something a little better than random matches and group chats.

The idea is simple:

Swipe players.
Match with people you'd actually like to play with.
See when you're both available.
And get on court.

Nothing complicated.

Just better games with better people.

And if we do this right, PadelBuddy won’t just help you find matches.

It will help build a community where the best part of padel - the people - actually comes first.

The person behind Padelbudddy

PadelBuddy was built by… well, one slightly obsessed padel player.

Hi, I’m the person behind the app.

I started playing padel in April 2024 and quickly realised two things:

  1. Padel is ridiculously addictive.
  2. The people you play with make or break the whole experience.

After a few matches where the level didn’t match what it said in the app or the vibe on court was just completely off, I kept thinking there should be a better way to find the right people to share a court with.

So I decided to try building one.

Small problem: I had never built an app before.

My normal job is actually operations manager for a coffee brand, so everything about PadelBuddy - research, surveys, branding, databases, building the app itself - I had to learn step by step from scratch.

Some days things worked.
Some days nothing worked.
And some weeks I avoided the whole thing because the mountain of things to figure out felt way too big.

But little by little it came together.

PadelBuddy was built completely solo, with a lot of late nights, a lot of bugs, and a lot of moments where I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

But also with the hope that it could make padel a little more enjoyable for the people who love it as much as I do.

PadelBuddy is still very much at the beginning.

But if it helps create more matches where the game is good, the vibe is right, and everyone leaves the court smiling, then all the grey hairs from building it were probably worth it.

Also for full honesty:
my footwork could still be better… and I sometimes try to smash balls that should definitely just be played soft.

Still working on both. 😇
